Hey all,

This is a quick guide video I made how to make a moving bed filter. This is my own variation on the normal ones.
Video Guide

Hope this helps people, I am working on some other variations and will do some short videos when I know what they turn out like

looks good. is there any advantage to these other than they're cheap and easy to do if youve go loads of tanks ? for example, is there a reason i would ditch my internal juwel for one of these ? how does 'dirty' water get sucked in to pass through the filter media ? is that what the airline does ?

The media is guaranteed to give 0 ammonia and nitrite readings. So they are very good.
It is what is used in the water industry to clean waste water and currently the product is aimed at KOI ponds hence no one makes internal filters yet.

The air being pumped in works exactly they same way as sponge or box filter works, the air gets expelled at the top which drags the water in through the base.
With this setup you get very strong and hungry bacteria, as the weak get knocked off. It's mainly a biological filter, but if you Check out my other videos I have one which has a large sponge filter on it too. So you get mechanical and biological filtration.

And k1 is self cleaning... :hyper:
