then take it out side to cut it because it is still has the milk in it(children dont try to cut it your self get a adult to do it for you)

once you have cut it you have two halves (ie two caves well almost :good: :good: )

Does it need soaking in water before it goes in the tank? Like bogwood sometimes does?

Got mine by pinching it from my hubby who likes the stuff inside it...gave him a gentle PUSH to get him to buy one with this in mind!
Sneeky i know.

some people do but i didnt  just gave it a good wash

do you know some 1 on ebay is selling these for£2.95 plus £1.95 for post, god you got to laugh  :grr: :grr:

I make mine a slightly different way, I use a 25mm and 38mm hole cutter and a drill, Drill some holes in it where ever you want, use a blunt knife to scoop the meat out from inside via the holes you have drilled, give it a rinse and it is done, Whole coconuts look good in large tanks, and if you do not scrub the coating off the outside of the shell, you can get java moss to stick quite easily.

Nup, just a quick wash to remove any dirt and dust that could be on it. Then place them in the tank, they dont release any tannins!

thanks again

I take a nail and a hammer to a coconut. I would use a electric saw, but apparently " im not old enough" to use one. I would use are regular saw, but i cant seem to find it! I have to old ones, i made about a year ago. It is near impossible to get that meat out. I ended up boiling to lossen the meat, and it was still hard to do!

hi krib,if you get a coconut with milk in it come out easy with a blunt knife or a spoon :good: :good:
