I am temperarilly keeping my new betta in a fish bowl and will soon be adding her to my ten gallon. When I go to school (and my parents to work) we cut the heat off, and where I am it can get pretty cold during a winter day. I was thinking about wrapping her bowl in some old t-shirts to keep the water warm. Do you have any suggestions as to what I can do?

Buy a heater for the tank?

just a suggestion, but fairly obvious i would have thought.

Oh my goodness. Forget about the tank. Let me start over.

My betta is in a fish bowl. How can I keep the bowl warm--using things I already have in the house.

If you're really really desperate, put your hand on your fridge top and see if it's too warm/hot. If it isn't, you cuold place your betta on top of that and check a fair bit to see if it gets too cold/hot until you get a heater

Not only will this get your betta used to the new 10g but if the 10g is heated, as u say, then you can but the fish bowl INTO the 10g like I used to do. That way, whenever you're ready, the betta will be ready as well to go into the new envioronment. Now if it's a community tank, you must be careful. Seeing numerous other fish and not being able to interact with them may stress him out as well. Take a day or so, think it out, and do it if you think it'll be ok.

That sounds good but...
how do I put the bowl in the tank. Do I cover the top of it or something so she can't swim out?

there are three other fish already in the tank.
