Hi guys,

I have problems with my water pH which decreases although my tank is already cycled(ammonia 0, Nitrite 0). My pH now are <> 6.4. I've tried change the water around 50-60% twice this week but not much different. So how to increase my pH?

Thanks

A pH of 6.4 is fine for most fish.

A water change (slow) should bring the pH back closer to your source's ph.  What is your pH of the source water?

I will check later after back from work. Before this, my pH is usually around 6.8-7.2. It is start lower after my tank nearly established.

Do you have any wood in the tank, Bam?

unless you are having some very special fishes I would keep it as is - if you are getting fishes from nearby they will probably be already used to the water conditions.

Just now, I've did the water testing & found my pH drop again to almost 6.0..

My pipe water is between 7.2-7.5.

Yes, 1 medium size driftwood. 3 plants which is tied up to the 3 small wood.

It's probably tannins from the wood which are doing it. As Eagles says, you will need to do slow water changes.

What is you means "slow" water changes? Is it small water changes?

Feed the water back in relatively slowly - too much change in pH too quickly could shock the fish.

Orite... got it.. I will do.. Thanks mate.. ;-)

Guys, Can I use any kits to raise up the pH? I read at the API pH test kits instructions, there are tools to raise or lower the pH. API pH UP or API pH DOWN. Even there are the tools to auto adjust the pH to preset to certain levels (API PROPER pH).

Thanks

Definitely not.  Those aren't good long term solutions.

Why do you need to raise it?

Because my pH water always down to 6.0 or lower(Range color from the card show yellow which is the minimum level).. I have to change the water everyday around 30% (15% twice) to get the color level up a bit around 6.4..
