I just throw the contents of the bag in, water and all, any left over ammonia will be used by the plants as a source of nitrogen.

Same here. Buy them fresh every Friday and just chuck them in. I turn the filter off for 10 min to stop a lot going up there but you mustn't forget to turn it back on!

If you have a tank that has a green water problem, put them in a breeder in the tank. Some will get out and be eaten and the rest will fatten up removing the green water algae from the water. With a reproductive age of less than a week and a life expectancy of about a month, you can get a lot of daphnia from a small starter sample. The ones that leave the breeder become a constant low feeding rate food for your fish. I really wish that I could find a good source of live daphnia locally.

Good info :good: Thanks alot il have a go at letting them breed my waters fine though.
