I have never used frozen food before and i just got some for my jd's. How do i feed it to them, do i just put the frozen tablets in the water or do i let the ones i am going to use unthaw in a cup of water first. ??? Help please

What i do is get a cup of tank water, and then just place the cube in there, wait for it to thaw, then pour that cup of water with the thawed out food back into the tank. Doesn't take long at all to thatw around 5-10 mins.

Its a personal thing. I cut up the cubes with a stanley knife into smaller pieces. Then run them under the cold tap in a fine meshed net to thaw them whilst keeping the food in the net before adding to tank.

:good:

Yep that is the best way to do it IMO, the frozen food thaws in about a minute if you swirl it around in the cup :good:

The water used to thaw the food will have a lot of phosphate in it- I throw this away then add the food.

i run mine through a brineshrimp net and then under cold water to wash all that crap off it.

I just drop the cubes into the tank. The fish go into a frenzy pecking at it as it is defrosting, then it disperses into the whole tank. Definitely the highlight of the fish day. I asked my LFS what they do, and they said the don't have time to muck around defrosting food or straining it, and they've never had any probs. My community tank fish have micropellets or flakes for breakfast, and frozen brineshrimp or blood worms every day.

i have a few problems with that post,

1. if you just drop into tank the liquid its packed in can contain salt, phosphates, and other hamfull chems that can hurt your fish when they rip it apart.
2. you said you feed frozen brinshrimp or blood worms every day, if you feed bloodworms more than once a week it can and will leed to horible constipation, which in turn leeds to bloating and posably death.
