i have been keeping fish for quite a while now but haven't tried feeding frozen foods like bloodworms, larvae, artemia, etc.
what is the best feeding method for these type of food?
do i have to put them on microwave to defrost them or just put them in the tank from frozen?
thanks.

Stick them in a container with a bit of tankwater, leave to defrost for a few mins then either pour in, or use a pipette, tweezers, whatever.

I have put them in the tank frozen and let them thaw and break up themselves and also just let them thaw on a saucer first then put them in ready thawed. Some of it depends on your filter flow and where you want them to drop. In the tank I have now if I put them in frozen the block eventually thaws and drops behind the filter intake which is not good so i thaw them first. It's up to your really but there is no need to thaw them in the microwave :good:

I float them in a small container of tank water until thawed and then pour them in.

depends which tank i'm putting into. will float frozen in one tank and let sink for my corys and clowns

the other tank i melt in a cup with tank water

did once put in hot water to speed up defrosting, was in rush to go out, and the bloodworms turned white

so not good

I put the cube in a ziploc bag then close the bag tightly, then I turn on my sink to the hottest it gets, then I grab that little gun-like thing on the right of the sink (the thing that shoots out lots of small streams of water and is connected to the sink) and defrost it by just pouring extremely hot water onto the bag, then it defrosts the cube within a minute. and fed to fish easily!

I always put the frozen cube in a ziplock bag with a bit of water in it and put it in the tank, closing the lid on the bag to keep the bag in one spot.
Then when its all thawed I just pour it in slowly and toss the bag when I am done :)

YO...just TOSS IT IN!!!!! Been doing this for years now. NO PROBLEMS..also...acts like slow release. SH

In one of my tanks I put the cube in frozen then it's 'no holds barred' as the fish fight for their share (comunity tank) as the cube defrosts. Some of the bloodworm etc. will sink so the bottom feeders also get their share.

In the convict (breeding pair) tank I defrost in a cup of tank water first as the (big) male will take half a part defrosted cube which can't be good for him.

That is a real problem for me becuase If i just tossed it in, i know exactly which fish would take it all first!
So I defrost it, take a little bit of it, put it in the Kuhli Loahces favorite hangout spot, a little bit in the Cories hangout spot, and some scattered all over, with some in the open also for the fish that like to steal it all right away!

I rubb the frozen cube between my fingers in the tank until it has defrosted takes mabey a minute ,ive always done it this way .
Works well for me :good:

Sometimes I'll wait about an hour before I put it in other times I put it in right away. The fish figure out quick that it has to melt a little before they'll get anything from it.
