A friend of mine has given me a rather large bit of java fern on a piece of bogwood. The plant itself has took a good beating with his severum. Chunks bit off everywhere.
What's the best way to re-grow this or is it dead? Shall I cut it all back or not?

Thanks in advance.

cut the damaged leaves off as near to the rhizome as possible (so the plant doesn't waste energy trying to repair them).

I'm assuming it has some undamaged leaves?

None. They've all been chewed. Looking at it there must have been over 20 leaves at least.
Thanks for the reply.

they should grow back if the rhizome is intact. They would grow back a lot quicker, with some C02.

Thanks Ian. I've ordered some EasyCarbo today, estimated delivery is 2-3 working days.
Have a wee CO2 pressurised set but it would be no good for this tank.
