I’ve seen a few users on here do this and ide love to give it a go, I have a 4 litre jar that used to have pretzels in that ide love to create into a nano aquarium with plants and possibly shrimp? (Not sure if even too small for shrimp) how would I even go about this? I’m thinking of not running a heater or filter and just letting plants do the rest. It’ll be in my bedroom which sits at 20 degrees Celsius even in winter.

Any tips, advise or even just a walkthrough for doing this?

Thanks

4 litres is not really much to work with, can you get anything else either designed for aquariums or to repurpose? The Supafish and Denerle scaper cubes are pretty decent and not overly expensive and being square good for getting equipment etc.

Check out Serpa Design on YouTube he does this kind of thing and it looks awesome :)

It was just an idea to repurpose an old container I had to have by my side, I know it’ll be a challenge and small but is it impossible?

No not impossible but too small for livestock so plants only. I saw someone do a full aquascape in a ferrero roche container once they got the scale perfect.

Do you have a pic of the jar? Just trying to think of what to do and what kind of plants to suggest.

Kind regards,
Andy

Ah thats interesting - I was picturing a smooth glass one. Check these out though might give you ideas and ways of building it. I like the one in the round jar as it looks like a Doubt Egberts coffee jar which are about £20 for the big ones in B&M.

Well, a 4 liter container might be small but it does give you a challenge to work with. But it is possible. If you'll choose for that, post some pics of it. For I'd be curious...
