How To Catch Pond Snails

So I've looked in my pond and I can't see ANY snails in there. I also looked in my neighbour's pond and didn't find any. Don't all ponds have snails? Or am I not looking properly? My pond is pretty old, well established and very natural. There is a natural pond somewhere by where I live and so how could I catch a snail from there?

If they were never introduced (by birds, plants or reptiles etc) there may not be any!  You could buy some pond plants from a shop and keep an eye out for them hanging onto the plants or just ask for some!
