ok i have 5 neon tetras already for 1 week or less and i am intrested in breeding them in the future. how to you breed them?

From another thread:

Apart from the soft acid water, you will need a separate breeding tank, fairly young fish and lots of livefood for conditioning. Once the parents have spawned, they need to be removed and the tank then covered with dark paper or similar as the eggs are light sensitive. According to Bailey & Sandfrod (The Ultimate Encyclopedia of Aquarium Fish), they hatch after 24 ours, and become free-swimming on the fourth day, after which you need to feed them first on infusoria or liquifry, then on newly hatched brine shrimp.

Thanks to dwarfgourami for that

ok what if i want the neon tetras to breed, but i want the eggs to stay and hatch in the same tank?
sorry for being unclear, and yes there are other fish in the tank and i do not want loads of fry, just a few

theyll be eaten and they will go mouldy or become covered in algae that will kill them.

any light will just kill the eggs befor they hatch so you have to remove the parents and put the tank into darkness for 3-4 days at least

ok what about fry. my swordtail is pregnant, and i think i will get fry this week...hopfully water quality will be good by then, some fry will surevive bviously right, i have many many many hiding places for the fry

the neons will eat most of the sword fry but you should have 1-2 survive.

gremlin
the eggs go mouldy not the fish (well some may get fungus which is a mould)

haha lmao---mouldy fihs...anyways 1-2 sword fish is fine with me, and if i put only finely crushed flaked food in my tank everyday for the baby fry, is that sufficient
