How To Asexually Breed Amazon Swords

I have about an 7-8 inch tall amazon sword with new leaves sprouting. How do I cut a piece off and plant it? I think they are called runners but i don't know for sure. I want more for other tanks.

Generally speaking you don't do anything. The plant will send out runners itself if it's given the correct nutrients. Normally this just happens over time.

The runners come from the base of the plant and are effectively roots that are given a slightly different growth signal to grow upwards and form a new plant.

If you have a particularly large thick amazon sword then sometimes you can cut it in half through the roots and regrow it as 2 plants.
