How Strange

Are you accusing me of being a "nutty poster" there sheilagh? if you were then look at my post history and you will see that I do try to help and disagree only when it is appropriate and even then it is in the appropriate style.
I also said about the posters who post little as well because I mis-read what dunchp said about one-tracked posters and assumed he was on about people who join and only post one or twice..my mistake and I should have read more carefully.
However, I completely disagree with what he said about people shouting inbreds and flushing them down the toilet becaus that is no way to treat otherwise healthy fish...surely the best way (regardless of whether they are right or wrong in the end) in that situation would have been to give them the best sort of life possible and just ensure they didn't breed from one another. This gives me the impression that you are not a responsible and caring fish keeper and are only in it for finding ornaments for your house!
One-track posters are fine in my opinion because they just stand by their opinions which is completely understandable and there is nothing to say that you are right over them and there are plenty of experienced fish keepers on here still anyway...it sounds to me like you are the minority!
This thread and the attitudes shown have made me angry and it seems that people like you are the problem to this forum...that being the case I don't want to be part of it anymore.
Thankyou TFF it was nice while it lasted!

I guess, since both Becky and I 'left for a while' due to nutty posting we are talking past tense, therefore you need to look further afield than this thread and not take it too personally.

The only real criticism in this thread that I am making is at the 'definitely inbreeding' brigade, not only this thread but in other previous threads; this is just poor advice; for every common symptom there are numerous causes (inbreeding is one) and for every successful method there are numerous alternatives.

Those of you who diagnosed inbreeding got this person to flush a perfectly healthy fish - shame on you!

For the avoidance of doubt, I am not criticising the 'might be inbreeding' advice; just the 'must be inbreeding' advice.

By the way Freddy, you don't even know me. All 140 of my fish tanks are in my fishroom, I don't have any fish tanks in my house; if I wanted an ornament for my house, the last thing I would do is try and breed one. I am involved in the care and maintenance of rare, endangered and extinct in the wild species of fish (as are some of the other people in this thread) and I am very lucky to have been able to speak to some amazing ichthyologists, not only because it allows me to learn so much but because it has allowed me to realise how little I actually know.

The thing about being a 'one track poster' is that one of the purposes of being on a forum is to learn from other people's experiences. Sticking to your opinions means that all you want to do is to give your opinion and not to learn from everyone else, but if that floats your boat then go right ahead.

RIGHT
I have not got a clue what is goin on here nor what the references are to

I posted this post months ago if anyone care to notice
The fish involved is healthy , I WAS responsible initially, by seperating due to a possible malformity ... I fed to the angel fish A) to stop any prolonged suffering and b) to stop any further breeding causing any further malformity
I found the fish months afterwards ... Completely normal

I may have been on this forum for less time than others but I have a reasonably high level of experience in fishkeeping

I seconded someones comment because to me this forum is apsolutely pathetic .... lots of people willing to give advise but not discuss anything , DONT GET ME WRONG there are loads and loads of genuine people and LOTS of "up there own" kinda people who think that they are GOD

I for one have lots of local connections / clubs where I can get genuine advise, this post just proves that this forum is full of cr*p
turning a genuine discussion as to why this may happen into a slagging match ...........

I have no idea what most of this argument was about but hey ho , who cares

IMO Shelagh is a good fishkeeper anyone willing to ask questions IS
however people who do are "slammed down from the beggining" and left feeling "why bother asking " so WHAt is the point in free speech and a forum meant to help ... to me the answer is none... those people are going to leave and do their own thing at detrement to the fish they are asking the initial question about ......

I may have over reacted but I had to say it
I am sick of this forum ... and from what i am led to believe so are lots of other experienced fishkeepers.
Becks.

AND I WOULD NEVER FLUSH A FISH

Figuratively speaking Becks.

Feeding it to your Angel fish has the same end result (although obviously not in this case) .

I dont think that flushing down the toilet has the same effect ... but hey ho i know where you are coming from
to me it was the easiest way ... but then i will be slammed if i do and slammed if i dont

I have a few dustbin fish that eat my poor quality fish, it is a fact of breeding unfortunately.

So no slamming from me.

Thanks. x.x. you cannot expect a brood of 40+ guppies to all be born perfect.
I would hate for a fish to survive in toilet water even for a short period of time.

well I had to just see what rection I got but just to let you know I ask questions all the time and if you read my post earlier it say inbreeding causes spine-deformities in response to someone being unsure. I DID NOT say that this was definitely the case here.
It looks like you are not the only ones fed up with the forum...if you have 140 fish tanks and have seen loads of icthyologists then you clearly are ready to think you are something special and it strikes me that you need a life mate.
As I said...I saw what reaction I got and now I am leaving the forum...

Who is that directed to ??

In fact so wat .. I know my fish are cared for Sorry for asking a question ... sorry you wish to leave the forum
In any case I dont have 140 tanks , but a few so better get doing some maintainance instead of playing in the playground

I think it is me Becks.

Leaving in stages Freddy

My original post said that I am criticising the 'definitely inbreeding brigade', if that isn't you then why are you taking it personally, taking offense and getting offensive.

Why do you think that I need a life? To be honest, your opinions on my personal life mean a little less than nothing to me but it is probably offensive to everyone here who spends their free time keeping fish.

Anyway, look forward to your next post.
