How Soon Is Too Soon?

I was just wondering, I let my 5 week old molly fry and my other 5 week old unidentified fry (3 altogether) in the main tank, is that to soon?
they're about this big now ...............
that's plenty of size for them to be out in the main tank now eh? Or did I do it too soon?

They should be an ok size at 5 weeks, but it also depends on what is in the main tank.

as already said , depends what they are being housed with
if it's just mollys , neons , platys etc then they should be fine
but if it was angel's or larger fish then you might lose some

They'res platies, mollies, swordtails, 1 angel (I think its an angel) and guppies, and a algae eater thats about this big:

I think thats about all the fish...

I would hold off for another while as the Angel may eat them if it gets the chance. How big are the fry? Also it is a good idea to have a good few plants for the fry to hide if need be, once they are introduced. What size is the tank?

Oh, I have quite a few plants in there, mostly floating, and my tank is a 20 gallon

Thats good then, the fry will have some plce to hide away. How many of each fish are in there? What do the other two mystery fry look like?

oh, umm there's about 10 fish plus the 3 fry, 2 are mollies and 1 is unidentified, I think it might be a swordtail, it's starting to get orange on it, and the swordtails that I have are pineapple swords.

I have some Herotilapia multispinosa, rainbow cichlids, that are finally that size and they go into the community tank tomorrow. Their parents are about 4 inches long but are mostly vegetarian so I expect them to survive. I can no longer afford the 10 gallon tank for them to grow in, it is time to get a few empty tanks for my trip to the ALA convention. Who knows what wonderful goodeids or X. helleri I might find there.
