well even after all the stuff i learnt from this forum i've still made a huge mistake 
) . did a water change on my big tank on friday before we went away for w/end. we came home yesterday & did the curtasty check over of tanks & fed fishys then left for a party. been out today got more fishys 
& was sat here admiring new fishys & looking at the temp gague on side of tank thinking it don't look right & lo & beholded i've blown the bloody heater up 
so both tanks are now sharing a heater till i can get to the shops in morning, i mean how stupid of me not to turn it off
