How Should I Go About Cutting This O_o

So I trimmed it a few weeks ago and I started noticing this growing... should I wait until its large enough to plant in the substrate or just chop further down the stem and plan the stem base into the gravel and let it grow out from there?

Chop it at lowest leaf node and re plant the tops, the leaf nodes will sprout new shoots and give a bushy effect.
