How Often Do You Test Your Tank Water?

At first i used to test every second day now after 6 months every weekend that i do water change or if i suspect that something may be wrong

it depends a lot on the age and stability of the tank.

while cycling it should be every day
while it's new (i'd say first 6 months) once a week
when getting new fish you should test before and test fro a few days afterwards incase you get a mini cycle
if you see any signs of disease then test daily until it's gone and for a while afterwards, then test every couple of days for a few weeks to see if you have water quality issues

in all honesty on our tanks we very rarely test the water, it's only if we think there's a problem

At the moment I am testing daily because my tank has only just finished cycling.

In my old tank though I tested weekly because it was very much established and stable.

When I can be bothered.
No it's just that when you first start fish keeping you love testing the tank, but as you get more into the hobby you know when to do a test.

mmmmmm everyone is different looks like.

I started with every day, then second day and once tank was cycled (about 6 weeks ago) it became weekly............now I've started fortnightly and just tested tonight and
everything perfect......

When the fish tell me to.

Amen, once you have figured out the vagaries of your water source and settled on a routine that works changes in fishy behavior will be immediatly noticable and cause to investigation. Chasing an absolute number can cause more problems than it prevents. Scott
