I feed them 2 times a day, though I do fast them once a week. At any one time I have 3 to 4 different dry foods that I rotate every feeding. I also give them frozen brine shrimp or daphnia on occasion. And every once in awhile they get fresh spinach, zucchini (courgette for you brits), other leaf lettuces, or peas. I especially like giving them algae wafers as a treat, they'll grab a big disc and run from all the other fish, it's great entertaiment for me. :good:

Im still getting in to a routine with them, but for the most part they get fed about 6 am when I get home from work shortly after the lights come on, (I work nights) and then again about 3 pm when I get up, which is convieniently right after the filter cycles. Im hoping that they learn the signs of feeding time quickly, so I can have a good show a couple of times a day.

I thought you werejn't suppose to feed mbunas brine shrimp or daphnia because they are vegetarians?

It's fine if you have Omnivores in the tank, Herbivores will still eat brineshrimp etc but it won't do them any harm in small infrequent amounts. High protein foods like Bloodworm should be completely avoided.

I have labs which are omnivores (feeding primarily upon insects, snails, and mollusks in the wild), and like ferris said in small amounts brine shrimp won't hurt the herbivores. I only give brine shrimp or daphnia as a treat once or twice a month.

Cool, I think I will try that too.
