How nessecary is lighting?

I have no live plants (yet). Will lighting be nessecary (not including if i get plants)

No as long as you don't keep the fish in absolute darkness. Is there ample sunlight in the room during the day?

If you have enough sunlight then there won't be a problem, but if kept in the dark, then brown algae might start rearing it's ugly head.

However, a small lamp would do your fish good because you have a guppy and these can actualy start swimming sideways if they do not have light overhead. It also means you can control the number of hours per day and I can guarantee you're going to eventualy want live plants .
