How much time do you established aquarists spend a week on maintenance of your system(s)?

Do you mean how long do i spend cleaning and stuff? If so, about roughly 5 hours or more.

Thanks...I was just curious how much time is involved....I've got 1 tank going and another on the way....Seems like a bit of work already.....Glad I enjoy it....at least so far.... :)

Yeah, the average is about 3-6 hours if you have a couple of tanks. Or if, in my case, you have 1 overstocked and clean 3 times a week.

I have a couple of tanks (29 and 35 gal)  and it takes me 20 minutes to siphon the water for a 50% weekly water change  and to clean the substrate.  I use a python water changer which makes w/c faster.

Feeding is done in a minute per day.   I clean the filter media about once every two weeks and it takes about 10 minutes for 2 filters.  Monthly, I do a full filter clean and that takes about 15 minutes.   So overall,, once a tank is established,, maintenance is ez.

Well, you could use what FishManiac uses but it is pretty expensive. It does make your life so much easier though!!

Basic maintenance - approx 3 hours

Full clean - most of a day

3 days a week, 7 tanks on Mondays, 4 tanks on Wednesday, 3 tanks Saturday

I spend ~2-3 hours each Monday doing the water changes, vacuuming, and cleaning the glass. We have 6 tanks, though one does not have fish yet. Going to get a 7th hopefully this week :)
I have a python just as FishManic does. The ones at the store are expensive but you can make your own for very cheap.

I spend ~20 mins each day to feed the fish.

And obviously the more tanks you have, the longer it's going to take to perform routine maintenance.

I probably spend an hour a week on average in the actual cleaning (3 tanks). But I spend several hours before and after just watching the fish, so technically it's a lot longer (according to my wife).

One tank, about an hour or so with cleaning, w/c and feeding

Thanks for all the replies...I'm spending just over an hour a week on one tank and have a second cycling...Fish soon....
