How Much Money Did U Spend On Ur Aquarium

cleek I think lots of people are going to blame you for difficulties with their wifes/husbands :p

lol , Im a beginner at this , and I never realized how much this hobby can be expensive, and u gotta be so attentive. I used to have guppies and goldfish, would buy a bowl and that was it!...presto! But tropical fish is like taking care of a babys behind! It must be cleaned , and regular changing! or it will smell and get a rash!

I bought the whole lot for £1500. Got about a £250 discount, so woulda cost £1750

For my 180L 1000 Fluval Duo Deep with stand, all equipment, plants, rocks, caves, general decoration, and stocking.. I must have spent around £350-£400.

I think any hobby, once it is done properly, is quite complicated though

+1 :good:

I have fish, shoot archery, guns, reload ammo, computers, cars, motorcycle. Not sure where the funds come from but geez............good thing I don't have a wife<<<anymore>>>

I have been lucky over the last 17 years.

First 15 gal was given to me.

4x2x2 Malawi Tank my hubby and a friend build themselves. Glass didn't cost nothing as my brother in law used to work in a store down Oxford Street and when they upgraded there Display Cabinets for there Jewelry we had the glass. Only bought heaters & Filter.

My first Brackish Tank (last year) a Jewel 4ft I got for free as the company I work for upgraded all there Fish Tanks in the offices and I got the Tank and an external Filter for free.

My other Brackish Tank I only got about two month ago. 6 1/2 x2x2 with a Fluvel FX5 Filter & two heaters all only 8 month old. Paid £230 what a bargain.

But spend a lot on sand, decor and of course the fish.

Sabby

 Do you think I am going to post an estimated amount, and get busted by my better half??

LOL. Some of you have spent less on your tank overal than I have on food(mind you i serve a premium buffet).

Well in excess of 1k AUD. Nuff said.

All prices in AUD

Tank, Hood, Stand - $650
Driftwood (some with plants) - $200
Plants - $200
Internal Fluval filter - $100
Heater - $60

So that's around $1210 for the tank

As for fish
6 x McCulloch Rainbow ~$40
18 x Cardinal Tetra ~$70
1 x Bristlenose (Ugly Bobette) ~free with my original tank (second hand)
13 x Harlequin Rasbora ~ 1/2 were free, so ~$40
3 x Otos $21
2 x Bolivian Butterfly (Rams) $24
3 Siamese Algae Eaters $10
3 x Male Guppies $10

Total Fish $215

So all up - almost $1500. + chemicals and food

That's current stock - I have lost a few in the last 12 months or so.

38 gallon

Tank, filter, stand, hood, light, heater

$300 brand new. I got a deal :good:

But add on 100 for plants, livestock, slate, sandand so on :look:

I have a 33 and 15 set up, a 15 that has a brown anole in it at the moment, another 20 that I need to do something with, and a spare 10. All but the 10 have stands. Grand total was........... nothing! All were happily accepted from other people over the years who were getting rid of them.

I'm not too far from spending a bundle on a large tank though. Every time I get close, something always comes up. Right now the roof needs new shingles before winter sets in. Always seems to be something getting in the way.

in the last 15 years probably more then i ever want to think about. so far my new setup i "borrowed" rocks from work that are being dumped anyway, got my stand for 99 at petco during a sale and got the tank for free (40 breeder) now im working on the rest.

Too Much spent for a 16 year old

first tank 10 Gallon

Tank, Filter, heater gravel and fake plant kit ($90)
32 Gallon Tank $90, filter $40, heater $40
75 Gallon tank $140, Stand $100, Filter $160 heater $70 and gravel and stuff all up $540'
$700 dollars or more on just tanks thats not including, Plants, fish lighting nets, food, conditioner and more I'd say more upwards of $1000 Australian $ all up ARGH
