Hiya everyone,

Long time no see. Had a very very very hectic few months with various things. Sadly due to the various things we’re going to be selling our marine tank. Just wondering what’s a reasonable price for this full set up? List is off the top of my head so may not be 100% correct but it’s near enough. Obviously I’ll check the exact details before advertising. And probably even more obviously if anyone’s actually interested in buying it then give me a shout.

Equipment
Jewel Trigon 350 tank and stand – 92 US Gallons / 350 Litres (curved corner tank)
250 Watt Metal Halide Light
2 x PC T5 actinic lights
3 x Hydor Koralia powerheads (less than 1 year old, very efficient pumps)
3 x Maxi jet powerheads
2 x Heaters
1 x Osmotics RO Unit
1 x V2 Turbo Skim Skimmer
Live Rock (don’t know the weight, estimate around £200 worth)

Fish
1 x Eibli Angel (really beautiful specimen)
2 x Pyjama Cardinals
1 x Tail spot blenny
1 x Flame tail blenny

Corals
1 x Organ pipe
1 x Fiji Leather
1 x Soft finger leather (recently injured in a rock slide, it’s recovering but isn’t back to it’s best yet)
1 x Yellow polyp colony
1 x Cup Coral
1 x Maze coral
2 x Candy cane
5 x assorted SPS frags

Clean up crew
1 x Cleaner shrimp
3 x peppermint shrimp
Approx 10 turbo snails
Approx 10 red leg hermits
Approx 10 white claw hermits
Approx 5 Nerite snails

Sundries
1 x Nearly full bucket of Instant Ocean salt (rrp £50, enough to last you a few months)
1 x Refractometer
3 x Mixing drums
2 x Large buckets
Salifert test kits for just about everything
Assorted food
Just about anything else you want from the fish cupboard (got boxes of remedies, supplements etc)

possibly, however we'll try and sell as a whole first, obviously if we do split it up we'd need to get all the livestock and LR sold before we sell equipment. so maybe but it'd be a bit down the line. are you after something in particular?

ok, once i've got the list finalised and what price i'm selling for sorted then i'll post an ad on here, ebay, aquarist classified etc, if it doesn't sell i'll get back to you!

what do you think is a reasonable price to expect for the full lot? i dread to think what we've spent on it!

hard to say really, maybe worth going through the existing auctions on ebay and trying to get a feel of where your sits

there's only a couple of full set up's on ebay at the moment and they're half the size of this so it's a bit hard to compare really!

Can't help you on the pricing i'm afraid.I guess it would be atleast £600+ with everything.
If you don't have any luck selling the hole set-up I would take the RO unit (whats the max GPD btw?) for a reasonable price.

Sorry not too good with pricing such a setup but it would be a pretty penny.
Only one question... well technically two...."Why are you selling are you giving up?
Regards
BigC

that was our thought, i'm gonna stick it on ebay soon, think i'll start the bidding at £600ish and see what happens!

didn't get a chance to check all the equipment details last night, had a friend having a crisis to sort out, i'll check and get back to you.

long story... both got new jobs, Ian's doing long hrs, I do a fair bit of travelling, we're also renovating our house to sell which is taking all our time and our house is pretty small so we've not got space to dedicate properly to all the drums and marine tank paraphenalia that you need so there's marine tank stuff all around the living room permanently, we have the RO unit plumbed into the cupboard under the sink which means when we're runnign off RO we have to have a big bucket laid around in the kitchen, when you've a tiny kitchen that's very impractical and with a decent size tank like this we seem to always be running off RO so it's all the time. Basically just due to the space and time constraints that we have it's not easy to look after the tank properly and keep the house looking alright and make practical use of the space we have. We all know marine tanks are an expensive hobby, well we're also attempting to save up to move house and get married in the next few years so we need all the cash we can get. It all just adds up to it being too much hassle for this time in our lives. We aren't giving up the hobby completely, we're keeping Ian's low tech planted tank cos it's pretty and takes no maintenance (literally, it's got a v good balance, we haven't done a water change in maybe 6 months and the water quality is absolutely fine, plants thriving, no algae and the fish are healthy, we just top it off when the water gets low and feed the fish) and when we're in the new house we'll make some careful planning of space and so on and find a way that we can have a nice reef tank again that's more practical.

I am paying £150 just for the tank, lights, skimmers, heaters with no live rock or fish or accessories , if that gives u an idea. I would start at £500 and let them bid and see where it goes, u can always put that you have it advertised it somewhere else and may remove if it sells.

thankyou that is helpful :D

I agree, I wouldn't sell it for less than 500 quid. I know you guys keep a nice healthy tank, and it'd be a STEAL at that price for livestock OR hardware, let alone both :)

:)

it's on ebay now, we've put it on with a reserve to just see what happens. for that sort of money it's not the end of the world if we have to relist it and pay the listing fee's twice. already got 4 people watching it so hopefully it'll go.
