after seeing what fish were cheap/expensive for people, im curious, how much are fish where you live? (roughly!)

a few examples from where i live

Zebra danio €1,75 (about £1,30)
emperor tetra €2,75 (about £2,20)
young angels €4,50 (about £3,50)
common pleco €3,50 (about £2,80)
guppies male €2,75 (about £2,20)
females €2,50 (about £2)
platys €2,75
corydoras various from €4,00 to €7,50 (about £3 - £6)
blue neons €1 (about 70p)
killifish €2,75

Aust dollar is a bit less than half a British pound. Prices are in aussie currency, (2 kangaroo tails = 1 koala foot, and 1 koala foot = a crocodile toe)

zebra danio about $2.00
emperor tetra $4.95
young angels $3.95-4.95
common pleco $20.00 for small 2-3inch fish
guppies male $3.95 - $6.95 for the really big ones
females $3.95
platys $3.95
corydoras various from $3.95 for peppered and bronze to $30 or $40 each for more unusual stuff. Most are around the $10-15.00 mark.
blue neons $2.95-3.95 depending on size and shop.
killifish $10.00ea and upwards depending on species. Some like the Nothobranchius set you back $40 or $50ea. Common Aphyosemiums like australe will set you back about $20-30pr depending on where you get them from.
small fantail goldfish $3.95
small comet/common goldfish $2.95
Australian rainbowfish $5-15ea but New Guinea rainbowfish are $15-50ea or even more for some of the rarer species. Recently at one of the ANGFA auctions there was a NG rainbowfish that sold for a couple of hundred dollars per pr. Melanotaenia praecox (neon dwarf rainbow) originally sold for about $200ea when they first came into the country. Then they dropped to about $50ea for a while and are now about $5-10ea.

killifish $10.00ea and upwards depending on species. Some like the Nothobranchius set you back $40 or $50ea. Common Aphyosemiums like australe will set you back about $20-30pr depending on where you get them from.
BH Col Killis cost so much down under.

Yeah I know and they only turn up once or twice a year. It is crazy. Most people who keep them get them shipped over from various killi societies around the country. You have a lot more choice and they are a lot cheaper than buying from the petshop.
The clown killis are one of the more frequently imported and will set you back about $15ea. Others like Epiplaty dageti haven't been brought into the country for over 10 yrs and when they did turn up they set you back about $10ea. And the mad part about it all is many of them are so easy to keep and breed. I had the E. dageti in an 18inch tank with some Java Moss and a sponge filter and they did nothing but breed. I scooped out fry every day for months and flooded the market with them. Then I got rid of the adults and a year later they were gone from the shops and haven't been seen since.
The Aphyosemiums are the same. A friend breeds them and when he first started with them he flooded the market with a few species before getting rid of his adults. Then a few years later you couldn’t find any.

Corydoras robinae are £24 here ($50ish) per trio.
Neons are 99p ($2ish)
Bristlenose plecs are £8 ($15ish)

Can never remember the price of all my fish but here are the few I do remember:

pair of pink severums £10.50
Neons 6 for £5
Male Betta VT £3.50
Large b/w mottled veiltail molly (male) £1.50
3 female guppies £1.50

I've found that the live plants cost much more than most of the fish I buy!!
