Hi all,

Just wanted to find out on an average, how many times do you feed your frys (whether it is guppy, swordtail, molly or swordtail - pls state in your reply) a day? :fun:

Hey there chewy :D When my fry are new borns, i feed mine 3-4 x times a day with avariety in rich foods for a healthy diet and immune system(bloodworms, tubifex worms and flakes). When my fry reach one month i reduce the feedings to 2x a day(the same as their parents get)

Aren't the bloodworms and tubifex worms rather big for the fry still?

I do agree, 3-4 times daily. Crushed flakes, crushed spirulina flakes (Spirulina supposed to help in promoting good colors) or even commercially available fry foods (liqui fry, first bites, etc.) will do. Also live BBS (Baby brine shrimp aka Brine shrimp fry), which help it's growth.

Ofcourse i dont feed it to them whole :p . I rub the dried worms inbetween my fingers and it creates a powder thats perfect for their tiny mouths. Or if i look at the bottom of the food containers, there's tons of crumbs there aswell.

Ahh. Ok :D

Yeah do the same with the shrimp pellet crumbs. Though, the whole pellet can be dropped too, since it softens up rather quickly.

I feed my guppy fry 3-5 times a day. That seems to work really well. I have had many healthy guppy fry!

I have a mortar and pestle I use to grind up every kind of food I have into a fine powder for my fry. I use everything...algae wafers,bloodworms,shrimp,flakes,granules...I make it into a dust and they go insane eating it. And I don't have to worry about the food being too big for them to eat. :)

What's a mortar and pestle? never heard that before, but taking a guess - it grinds things up...lol - duh?!

Anyway, i realize no one have mention this food, but i just found out and just started to feed my guppy frys egg yolks....yes egg yolks, anyone think that is ok and approveable?
To me, i think they are great because they give the frys protein, the mineral needed for growth...

i feed my swordtail fry 3-4 times daily. liqifry and sometimes daphnia. egg yolks are recommended in my fishbook. :D

3x flake, freeze dried brine, bbs, dried daphnia

I change it up. I like watching fry eat "big" food. They gulp it down, can it hurt them?

boy, never thought whether it could hurt them or not!
hmm... if i remembered correctly, i read somewhere that guppies can force food through their digestive system without benefiting themselves.
so, my guess is, it wouldn't really hurt them and it wouldn't really help them either - because it goes right thru!
