hi guys

i have a fluval duo deep 1200 wich holds 47.5 uk gallons its 4ft L x 18" H x 15 W so what would you guys suggest the stocking levels for a speices tank of red zebra??

thanks in advance
gaz

Im a beginner when it comes to cichlids but I do know equipment. I dont like external filters simply because when i had one it leaked on night and emptied my aquarium (it was a good make too)

i havea fluval plus 4 internal filter and an fluval 205 ext filter didnt feel the need for a bigger more exspensive one when these two would do the job

be careful what malawis you put first in your tank gaz as it will have a baring on what other fish you can add.you should really put the least aggressive fish in the tank first then the nasty boys in last.try to get a tootal stock list of fish you want to add to your tank and we can advise you on the compatability of the fish and the order to add them.take it from me gaz, malawi's dont always go the way you plan.

ok thanks here is my thinking 2-3 of each on paper says they are all compatible but i dont trust books!

Pseudotropheus socoloffi (powder blue/ pindani)

metriaclima estherae (red zebra)

melanochromis sp "blotch"

labidochromis caeruleus (yellow lab, eletric yellow, canary cichlid)

lodotropheus sprengerae (rusty cichlid)

oh and does anyone know or can anyone please tell me the ideal male to female ratio to these fish?

with labs and rusty cichlids the m to f ratio doesnt matter they are as close to schooling fish that u will get with cichlids so it doesnt matter on the ratio with the others i would say 1m 2f

i have a few of them in my tank together and they all get on fine so i dont see why not though other people could say different as i do not know about all the species you have chosen.
