How Many Litres/ Gallons Can This Tank Hold?

hi all im contemplating buying a hopefully bigger tank then my current 50 litre one i have at the moment....the tank im looking at buying is a half hexagon shape and is 2ft L x 2ft H x 1ft D but seeing as the guy has no idea how many litres or gallons it holds im at a loss...I dont want to buy it and it not be very much bigger then the one I currently have. ive put the size into google and it reckons about 113 litres but that is just for a normal rectangle shape one.

Thats for calculating square or rectangle tanks so wont give you the correct size for a hex tank. I dont have a clue how you would work out the litres in a hex tank. Does it not ay where you are getting the tank from? if not do you know what the name of the tank is?

However i did not state it fails to include hexagonal tanks on the calculator

its from some guy off ebay and hes selling it for his son all he told me was that it was 2ft in length x 2ft in height x 1ft in diameter. Im currently debating whether or not to buy the tank as i have only seen a pic of it and its a 50 mile round trip so i want to be sure of litre size before I go pick it up.

You can work out the approximate volume using the formula: TT x radius^2 x height. Do you know the length from the middle of the tank to the nearest edge?

please load up an mspaint program or similar and draw on the measurements u think uve been given, then upload the pic

You will get a more accurate estimate if you calculate the volume as a rectangle as opposed to a hexagon. The calculator worked out 113l as a rectangle, minus 10-20l for the slanted corners so that gives you anything between 93-103l. Though I'm sure it'll be a 90l tank.

ahh right thanks for all your help I thought it was a little bargain i was bagging its £40 with stand and full set up including some small community fish.

in my 50 litre tank i currently have:

1 crowntail betta
2 corys
2 shrimp
2 cherry barbs
1 platy
1 swordtail
4 rummy nose tetras


the reason for a bigger tank is im wanting a variation in other fish to stock but will i be very limited even in this tank im going to buy?

if so maybe i might be best holding out for a 125 litre, just never any going cheapish in south yorkshire area

ok so i re-read and its half hexagon. i thought it was a full hexagon tank.
