How Many Gallons?

I'm thinking of buying a new tank to go with my 20 g. I'm kind of think about a 10 gallon but I'm not sure. I will most likely only have corys,loaches and maybe a few tetra or other smaller fish. The substrate will most likely be sand. Any ideas? :blink:

If you are interested in loaches then I would recomend something bigger than 10 gallons. Most grow to at least 3 inches. They also enjoy being in groups and are VERY active. I'm not saying you couldn't go with loaches, Dwarf Chain Loaches stay small and have all of the charming aspects of loaches.

I'm sorry to say the same about the cories, most grow to at least 2 1/2 inches long and are definate schooling fish which are, again, very active. But you have the right idea of sand for the cories.

I already have 6 corys and 1 dojo loach. Maybe some kuhli loach, I have a black that is so small and just doesn't seem to grow

maybe a 15 gallon? I dunno will think on it I guess. I'm dreaming for a 55 GALLON BUT MY PARENTS ARE TO WORRIED IT WILL GO THROUGH THE FLOOR. tHIS WOULD BE ON THE BOTTOM FLOOR, NO SECOND FLOORS TO WORRY ABOUT. oops caps lock.

I thought there was a pinned topic on this but now I can't find it. That is, what fish are good for a ten gallon. I bet someone will come on and link to it for you. In the meantime, I'll repeat what I have had because it's where I have experience. I had until last week a ten gallon with a dwarf gourami, neon tetras (I tried to always have 5 - 6), and pygmy corys (I started with 6, ended up with 4, 6 is better). I also used to have a ten gallon with a trio of cherry barbs and some shrimp. Lost the shrimp over time and then upgraded and put the cherry barbs with the gourami etc in a 29 gallon. Currently I still have a ten gallon with a single fantail. I think if I did another one I would just do as many harlequin rasboras or red velvet swords as I could have and leave it at that.

p.s. my family used to race hydroplanes in Kelowna

ha maybe I will take your advice, I dunno maybe another 20 gallon or 30 gallon is in order I'm still a pondering.
LOL I remeber the races from the beach. I live at the mouth of a creek so I can see all from my roof.

Well I went out and bought another tank. It's another 20 gallon. It was only 79.75! That's really cheap for were I live. Now I just have to find a place to put it..... upstairs perhapse?
