I have some live plants already, and I'm wanting to get a few more. Just wondering how planted it should be. I love the lush look, but not sure how much space it will take from the fish. Here's a pic of what I have. Any suggestions?

get less fish.. I also love themore lush look.. I think you might be more limited to the amount of plants due to the large gravel you have..

yeah you have the same problem as me. that looks like pea gravel (stones size of a pea). the problem is they move about too easily so the roots find it hard to take hold.

how about buying some little bits of bogwood and tying plants to that. you then have moveable plants that dont need to touch the gravel.

suitable options are Java Moss, Java Fern, Anubias Nana, er and others (help people brain blank)

What I meant was.... you'll be limited by the amount/types of plants.

you'll have a hard time keeping swords and most root feeder plant healthy with such a large gravel size.

but you could still grow the tank full with Java fern, Anabus, watersprite, duck weed, any plant that doesn’t need to be rooted.

Silly me said:
get less fish...
 That's what I was thinking.

There's some java fern over on the right side of your tank. You could try, as jimbooo pointed out, tying it to your driftwood over there on the left with some fishing line or something.

Another thing you could try is just putting all the plants into one corner with the tallest in the back corner and so on. Then just go from there.

Riccia's a good one too, considering you have it in your tanks jimboo...

thanks guppy girl

i did think of that but it isnt cheap and not sure how much light is in the tank and i'm assuming no CO2.

it may be a leap too far at this stage as it wont grow fast enough to matt together.
