How Many Fish?

I am a newbie please can u tell me how many fish I can put in a juwel Rio 180 (180 litre) tank. I have 6 neon tetra's 1 Congo tetra and 2 algae eaters (King Tiger Pleco) I think??

As a general rule - 1" per gallon

the 1" per gallon only applies to slim bodied fish (such as tetras) that max out at 3" (i think). and you also need to take into account a fishes habits, and aggressiveness.

(you wouldn't put a 10" oscar in a 10 Gallon tank for instance!)

your tank is 47.5 US Gallons. I'm no tetra expert, but i'm sure your congo tetra would like a few friends, so i'd get a group of them, they grow to about 3", your neons will stay around 1" and if your plecs are king tiger plecs they'll grow to about 4.5".

the 1" per gallon rule does NOT apply to plecs, they poop too much to apply for this rule.

i think congo tetras are gorgeous so maybe 3 more of those and plant up your tank with lots of plants and bogwood and thats your tank done!

Did have more congo's but they died of diseases. Already had it when we got them and managed to save 1. Might get some later.

i have just go 2 more congo tetras and some bog wood (just got to soak it for a long time now )

how many more fish can i put in before it becomes over stocked.

it's roughly a 40g tank,

I would say 3 groups of 1.5 inch fish (about 6 to a group) then 1 plec (guessing one that gets to around 6-8inches... i'm not familiar with the king tiger plec) would be fine with good filtration to take the waste machine... sorry plec... into account.

So guessing the plecs get to 8 inches and you want to keep them both, then I'd get more congo's to make it up to 6 of each group and your probably stocked up. But personally I'd re-home 1 plec and add another group of small fish just for a bit mroe variety.
