So I've inherited a tank of my friends. It's been forever since I had fish and when I did they were goldfish, so I was just an amateur! So it's a 39l tank which I know is classed as a small tank which will be harder work, but I'm all up for a challenge and I've done my research!

So what I would like to know now is - how many fish?? I'm really not keen on tetras, but love the idea of the following:

zebra danio.
Siamese fighting fish.
Dwarf gourami.
Guppy.
Angelfish.
Adolfi's cory

Is that too much? What would you suggest? Would definitely like an angelfish and I'm flexible with the rest.

I look forward to your replies, thanks fish pals!

Take out the guppies as they will just breed too much!
Heres a good stocklist for you: let me know what you thinl
1x betta
2-3x angelfish
1x dwarf gourami
3-4x zebra danios
3-4x cory cats..

waaay to small for angelfish
betta and dwarf gourami will most likely fight
and the corys and danios should ideally be 6

Hi and welcome to the forum, Libbyd23

Sadly most of the fish you picked need a larger tank.
Zebra Danio are far too active for a 39 litre
Siamese Fighting Fish are fine in that tank
Dwarf Gourami are fine
Guppy are also fine
Angelfish are a definate no-no, these will grow bigger than the tank itself!
Adolfoi's Corydoras need a bigger tank

That said the Siamese Fighting fish cannot be housed with Guppies or Dwarf Gourami as they will be attacked.

Here is something which you could try:
1 Dwarf Gourami
3 Non-Fancy Guppies
3 Pygmy Cory

Or you could buy some Platies or Swordtails instead of D Gourami

out of experiance, do not keep fighters with guppies they will rip them to shreds!!!

Welcome to the forum LibbyD23.
I'm afraid I must agree that a 39 litre tank is too small for an angel. My own angels are presently over 4 inches tall and are less than a year old and still growing well.
The Betta splendens is a nice choice for a small tank as long as all the other fish are peaceful ones. Bettas are not very fast and can be harmed by aggressive fish of any size.
Zebra danios are barely able to fit into a short tank like that because they love to swim at high speed. Mine are in a 6 foot long tank and use the whole thing for quick sprints quite often. Your small tank would be about the right size for a breeding group of zebras but that would mean no other fish in the tank and the need to remove the parents to another tank as soon as the breeding ends.
Guppies are fine in a small tank like that, I have one devoted to guppies myself that is about that size. It will create the need to sell or give away a few adult guppies about once a month though. I sell all of the adults in my tank about 4 times a year and allow the young to grow up and produce more fry between club auctions. There is no profit in the sales but it helps pay the fish food bill.
Adolphi cories are a larger one of the cories so not the best choice for a small tank. Cories are best kept ion groups of at least 6 so I favor any of the pygmy cories for a small tank. One that resembles the larger cories is the C habrosus.
