I think I've just had a really good idea. My boyfriends dad n girlfriend recently purchased a couple of fancy goldfish. They put them in a bowl and so I rushed around there and gave them a short term upgrade. I said I'd send them some links to future tanks for the goldfish, but then thought wait a sec... I'll attached some pics of bettas and see if I can't persuade them to re-home the goldfish and switch to tropicals.

The tank is 30ltr, 18" x 10" x 10". I know it'll obviously house a male betta comfortably. But if they'd rather have more than a single fish, how many female bettas would be comfortable in there instead?

you could have 1 male and 5 corys
but i female would be the max you need atleast a 10g tank and you have to have about 4-5 females
you could have i female some corys and a few tetras

That's fine, I wondered if it might be a bit small to have a group of girls big enough to spread out the agression.

Nevermind, I'll revert to the previous plan of trying to tempt them with a male and 5 pygmys. Now the searching on aquabid begins...all those pretty bettas...

They're in the Uk anyways so they wouldn't be able to order from aquabid. This is just my persuasion technique :D

There are, but I know that my boyfriend's dad's girlfriend really likes red. So I'm thinking of attaching a couple of pics of Butterfly Red HMs, a Red CT and then a couple of ones from Ebay.
Hopefully they'll decide that they don't want to pay around £100 for a new tank for the goldfish and will switch to a betta.

Then I get a pretty betta to droll over when I visit. Hehe.

my mum likes red bettas aswell but dont get you can only have one male in a tank shes like the one u have seems peacful if you find another peaceful one are you sure they couldnt live toghether lol

Lol, appreciate the thought but trust me I know all about the male side of betta keeping. I've never kept females, that's the only reason I was asking if 4/5 would be ok in 30l. I thought it sounded like a bit of a squeeze but wanted a second opinion.

I'd be willing to try 4 females in my 35litre when it is spare but it will be quite heavily planted by then with caves and all sorts.

Although i never want my dearest Radish to die.

I have a 35litre tank with a broken lamp orniment and a few plants tall and short an bit of bog wood and have 5 females living in there comfortably as they can hide and they have never been very aggressive to one another the only other thing i have in the tank is a yellow snail.
