I know posts like this are annoying to the experienced amongst you...but I'm bored, and I've spent the last I-don't-know-how-long trying to get this picture taken of a guppy. How long do you guys reckon she's got?

To be honest i don't no it's hard to tell, i would have a guess and say not long, is she hiding and being abit agressive with the other fish, as when they get moody thats a sign there isn't long to go.

:fish:hi can somebody help meive got a heavily pregnant guppi we had a small male in the tank with her and three other guppys and the male would not leave her alone we had to take him out cause she seemed to be really stressing out :fish:

hey tracey

i'm not exactly certain what you're wanting help with since you separated out the male, but if you could post this again in your own thread, i'm sure we can be of assistance.

 thank you for takin the time to write to me im gratefull for any information that may be handy for future reference

Guppies are usually pregnant for about a month, but it can depend on the age, and size of the female, and other factors in the tank and such.

Around a month though. :)

Hiya again...she's STILL not dropped!! I've had her since the 27th of April (bought pregnant)...

Hmm...Sometimes Guppies won't drop if the conditions in the tank aren't satisfactory...is she getting chased, or harrassed or anything?

Or, It's possible she's just going to have a LOT of babies. She looks like a pretty big female, so she may be pregnant for a bit longer then most.

Water parameters are spot on ;) (Ammonia 0, Nitrites 0 , Nitrates 10, pH 7.2) Not really being chased either.

Incidentally - what should the temperature be? (The tank contents is below) - It's currently about 26-27C

:p could it by anychance have anything to do if the fish has been moved! what i mean is we got our fish from a friend and she was pregnant then and that was about five weeks ago

what i meant was she was moved from his house to ours but shes been in a stable enviroment for the past five weeks

i don't know that it would cause pregnancy to last longer, but moving a pregger could cause them to terminate the pregnancy. It could also cause birth defects. (but usually if there is a drastic change in parameters or she is VERY pregnant)

Pysgodyn.

When her gravid is pitch black, she'll be soon to birth. Also froma front view, her stomach will be VERY square. Pregnancies usually last 5-weeks (On average). When she shows these signs, and she doesn't give birth with in 24grs, raise the temp a few degrees 3, 4, or 5 o F I wouldn't go much higher than 83o f of 84 (18 C)
