I have put my pregnant platy in a breeder box. She is staying in one place, she looks a little squared, her anal opening is large and her tail is slanted slightly down. Is she ready?

Upload a picture of the pregnant platy for better advice. If she is not ready you may stress her to death in the breeder box. Platies are very skittish fish.

P.S  Do you intend to buy a couple of more tanks for the 40-50 fry that may get born and will more than likely survive unless you put them into an uncycled bowl/container?

You shouldn't put her in a breeder box, it will just stress her out. It's best to let nature take its cause and scoop up any surviving fry. Like snazy says, you're soon going to have hundreds!

If she is that close, then you can just leave her be in the breeder box. Generally when they are squared off it isn't to long before they are due. Just keep an eye on her.

I have never once had a livebearer drop 50 or 60 fry. Usually it's more like 10-20 fry on average, sometimes less. As long as you separate out males from females as soon as they are old enough to tell it will keep the numbers down on the fry.
