hi i am going to bag up my fish so i can drop them off tomorrow to the LFS but how long can thay stay in bags ?
wont be till 09:00 tomorrow I will be dropping them off

was thinking it be ok over night as it would be like sending them in the mail i have fish bags and poly box's open lids of coses to put
them all in will it be ok over night for about 9 hours ?

its hot as hell here i am sweating here right now so better off getting up at a silly time to bag fish up
shame as it will take me about 2 hours to get them all was thinking of starting to bag them up at say 00:00 so it be about 7 hours bagged up for them ?

Wouldnt leave them in bags more than 1-2 hours tbh. If you dont bag them and put them into the polybox and run your filter low on the polybox, that could work...

But the hotter it is, the less oxygen there is, with no filtration or water movement and a LOT of stress, most of your fish would probably be dead by morning.

People sending fish ut in the mail or those shipped in from shops or other countries are generally packed with neat Oxygen which makes a huge difference...

Didnt i see n another post you were taking your fish to MA?

That said... seeing as MA only opens at 9, i can guarantee they will appreciate an extra half hour to do waterchanges and feed without flapping about acclimatising new fish!!

Which MA are they going to?

going peterborough MD (pe1 4yz ) neil at md said he want them early doors to acclimatising them.
so going to get up early and bag them up.
going to start bagging them about 7am so should be in bags by about 8:40ish

If Your worrying about time getting all the fish, remove most of the water from the tank so there is only a couple of inch. This will make it much easier to net your fish and probably much less stress as you will be able to catch them much quicker.

thats just what i am doing right now getting ready for tomorrow remove most of the water from the tank so there is only about 7 incs of water in the tank !
heater on
fluval 2 plus on as cant main filters as water is low

I dont know why you need to stress your fish out tonight, it wont take 10 minutes to empty tank in the morning but you wont be risking your fishes life stressing them out running them on bare filtration with (new??) filter?

Can guarantee the guy at theshop wont mind if the fish come in a little later than 9 on the dot, its more the fact that you tell cusotmers 'first thing' for bringing fish in and they mean about 10am is but most customers take it to mean between 12 and 6pm. MA arent that harsh! Its more to make sure that on a busy day AND a bank holiday weekend (worst time to take fish ever) that they have time to acclimatise fish and 'deal' with you and your needs when they arent rushed off their feet.

may tank is 480ltrs my fish are hard to net in there but left them alone now the filter i am running has bean in the tank from the start the main filters are not running but are filled with water are the two APS 2000+ uv

water is to low for them to run so running it on low filtering for to night with air stones on fish seem fine.
no its not the best but tomorrow will have my 2 year old son awake and hard work doing fish tank and looking after him at same time

Fast for 24 hours before bagging. Bag with 1/3 water, 2/3 air. I like to use half tank water, half fresh with about 4x the normal dosage of Prime in the fresh water. Done properly they are good for 24 hours this way.

I've driven to auctions 5 hours away, with a drive like that I'm usually bringing plenty of items. A decent auction runs 6-8 hours, many times longer. After that is the drive home. If I'm hitting the road at 4am I'm up at 1am bagging fish. Check in at 9ish, auction starts at noon. I'm arriving home with fish that have been bagged all this time, at room temperature. With the hundreds of bags in an auction the only issues are with people who don't bag properly, they have their items rebagged when needed, and are charged a rebagging fee.

I wouldn't sweat 9 hours at all, if properly bagged.
