Hi All,
I ended up getting a guppy fry floating tank due to the fact that i have so many predatory fish in the tank. I managed to find 3 x fry , with a 4th getting eaten by my angel fish before i got a chance to save it.

How long do i have to keep the guppies in the floating tank, before i can release them into the community?

Also I don't want to have any more guppie pregnancies so i will be removing my 2 x male guppies, but i need to know how long before i can tell if the baby guppies are male or female?

Thankyou in advance.

Owen

usually about 3 months if they are getting live feed and 4 months if they are just getting flake. this seems to work for me

I would say that it depends how big your angel is. An adult angel is a danger to a full grown guppy so it will be a long time before you could expect the fry to survive. I usually wait until a new fry is about an inch long but in a little breeder, that could take a while. At 4 to 6 weeks, you will start to see some differences between male and female guppies if you are accustomed to sexing juvenile guppies. They are not as easy to tell apart as the adults.

Its easy to tell when - as soon as they are too big to fit into the biggest mouth! :D
