So I have two VERY pregnant red platys. When I bought them, I knew they were pregnant, they were already really big and round considering they are only about an inch and a half long. Anyway, theyve been getting bigger and bigger, but I've had them 3 weeks now. how long, after they appear ball-shaped from all angles do platys usually drop?

When you see that their stomachs have kind of a "squared off" shape, then you know that they're just about ready to drop. From your description, I'd say that they're very close to dropping, but it's hard to tell without any pictures. :good:

If you can post a pic it'll be easier to tell how close they are.
As Neptune said, once they take on a boxy shape they're very close to dropping

I can try to get pic with my cell phone. i dont have any other camera. And all my fish are VERY active and dont sit still for 'picture day'

really not the best pics, but as good as theyll let me get lol

I tried without the flash and the pictures were too dark to see anything. I dont have very much lighting in my apartment, and its dark outside

i found 2 new babies in the tank just now, but i'm not sure which platy is making them :p I have an older swordy fry, hes about 2cm long now probably about 3-4 weeks old now, and hes starting to come out of the plants...

I moved the platys to a different tank 4 days ago, but they havent shown any more signs of dropping yet... how long do they usually go?

I dont know when their last drop was... or even if they have had one
