Hi guys,

I am setting up my little tank and have put my Fluval 2plus power filter in with my Rekord96. How long will it take to get the required bacteria to run in my new tank?

Thanks a lot folks

you've put the new filter in an existing tank right?

i'd say leave it 2 weeks running alongisde the old filter then move it and start stocking the tank straight away.

:D

Hi guys,

im gusseing your tank is 96L

no matter if not methodmza. my tank is 96L and i have a fluval 2plus filter. it took me just about 5 weeks to cycle fishless. dhould take you les time if you are using an existing filtert in there

my ammonia source was approx 25%.

i added 30 drops ( or untill ammonia reading was 5ppm), then when i strated to get nitrite readings( a few weeks or so ) then 15 drops ( 2-3 ppm) every day untill nitrite( and ammonia ) have gone completley.

hope that helps

Yeah i have a Rekord 96 with the Juwel internal filter already cycled with my stock below. Been up and running for ages.

I have just put the FLuval 2 Plus in with it to quickly cycle it.

I am also buying a Fluval 105 external for the 14gal. I will run this straight away then transfer the power filter into their when cycled, to cycle the external one.

Does that sound ok?? hehe

umm your fluva 2 will only be 'cycled' not mature, i think if you put that one ht enew tank with another uncycled filter you'll probably see a mini cycle so you'll need to keep well on top of water changes etc to control it.

personally i'd mature the fluva 2 and put that on the new tank, start stocking slowly, then put the external fluval on the old tank for a fortnight then transfer it over.

:)

Good plan!! Didnt think of it that way. Silly me!!!!

I will stock slowly, I am actually having a go at my first properly planted tank with co2 in the 14gal. So think i am just gonna go for a shoal of corys first off. then see how it goes.

thanks for all your help.

no problems, just read that back i'm amazed you can understand me past all the typo's! sorry
