I'm asking this because my tank is in a really bad way right now with Amonia, Nitrate, Nitrite and PH levels soaring! So someone from my lfs told me to do a water change and stop feeding my fish for 3 days. I know the adult fish are ok but thing i i've got some platy fry in a breeding net in my tank aswell. What do i do!?

Can't you just compensate by increasing water changes/frquency?

i wouldnt know because i feed my 28 guppy fry 3 times a day and they are ok

Fry need at least 4 small meals aday, just will have to do water changes.

Mate, i tell you what i would do...

How many times a day do you feed your fry?

If more than once, i would bring them down, i feed my fry only once aday, i have tried feeding them more than that before and they didnt touch one bit, so it would of just brought my level up if i kept trying to feed them more than once a day, so if you can bring down their feeding regularities to once a day, then you should be able to speed up the reducing water perameters faster...

Now feeding them less i will not deny will slow down the growth of the fry, but what would you prefer, dead fry or slow growing fry, i think my choice would be clear

My question is, how did your water perameters get so high in the first place?

well it was fine until white spot started to take over my tank. I then used a Malachite green treatment so i'm guessing the treatment killed the beneficial bacteria and caused other effects.
