How Important Is A Light

So i was just curious, i have one tank with a light, but it is only 4 gallons, and so have decided to keep a betta in that one, and use one of my bigger tanks for others.

This bigger tank does not have a light, and as i am currently quite poor, was wondering how important a light is? Obviously if it is very important i will buy one.

Depends on the type of tank. A fish only tank will be fine without. If you intend to keep plants, you will need a light, as most will strugle without one.

A light is not a nessisary part of an aquarium, unless you want to be able to view your fish well, or if you have live plants. You will probably want a light later though, when you get some more money, you should consider buying one if you want to watch your fish clearly.
