i would say Very hardy, one of the last fish to show symptoms when my tank has problems, altho that is a bad thing as then it can be to late for them

, but yes they are hardy

can you explane your tank to me.  size, decore, substrate, plants setup, light etc.  I just love your tank.

Tiger barbs are very hardy, but DO. NOT. OVERFEED. THEM. They'll eat until they burst.

I have a 20 gal tall tank and the current stlking list is 1 zebra danieo, 3 (unknown fish name) but I do know their max size is about 1 inch, and 2 sunset barbs (just a kind of tiger barb) I want to add some neon tetras but I wanted to know how many of each kind of fish should I have in this tank?

I think you should add to the numbers of your other fish so there are at least 6 of each.

I wouldn't think so, if you keep up the maintenance. Hold off on the neons.

Tiger Barbs have a reputation for being aggressive. When kept in small numbers, this can be true, and they can do some damage, to each other, and to anything else in there. I would always advise keeping AT LEAST 6 of them, ideally more. That way, the within species bickering tends to be enough to allow the other tank occupants to remain unmolested.

I currently have 13 tiger barbs, 5 red eye tetras (had 6 but one died right away) and a flying fox in a 29g, and they all get along fine together. Back before I knew better, I had 3 tiger barbs in my community tank, and they were always getting in a scuffle with whatever fish happened to be within range. So I got the 29g just for them, adding quite a few more, then got the red eyes for a different tank but ended up putting them in with the barbs. Once I got the larger number of barbs, they stopped being aggressive altogether.

you are looking for nothing but trouble adding tiger barbs to that tank.....they will chase your other fish around constantly....they also need to be in large groups, 6+

I have a grop of 9 tiger barbs in my 130gal and have not had a problem with them chasing my other fish at all! And completely agree they need a group of six or more. As well as your other fish...

you have a large tank though.....in a 20 gallon tank, with the fish he currently has, they would be a nightmare!
