How Fast

Here is two pictures a bit over 3 weeks apart. The first was on the fry's birthday, the next was on day 24 after their birth. I am chronicling the female's shape change from one drop to the next and, because I left her with the fry, they ended up in the pictures.

I have not being trying very hard for maximum growth or the fry would be a bit bigger. They have only been getting typical tank maintenance.
You can see they are about 1/4 the females body length at a little over 3 weeks and about 1/10 her size at birth.

and do u also know how long before they show there colours my 2 fry i managed to save are still clear i think they are from my dalmation mollie

I usually see a hint of their final colour at birth. When I kept black mollies, almost all the fry were born solid black. The ones that were not never did get the black colour. At that time, about 45 years ago, the black molly breeding had not reached the point that every fry would produce the black like the parents. There were still a few from each drop that were described as green mollies, meaning the wild colour type.

ok thanx i hope they are just so small i cant see the black spots

in my brief exprience mollies do not grow very fast at all.i have one that is about a year old and is only about half grown.
