I have a 3.5" common pleco in my 29 gallon and I want to know how long is it going to take him to overgrow it? What would be a better pleco or algea eater to get?

In less then 8 months, mine went from 1 1/2" to ~5". After a year and 1/2, it's about 8".

HTH :)

OOPPS, missed your other question :*)

You can get Bristlenose or Rubbernose Plecs. They stay around 5". There are some expensive ones that also stay small, but I am not familiar with the names and such, as I can't afford them :X

i have clown plecs, which only get to around 4 inches or so tops. bristlenoses would be good too. you could check out www.planetcatfish.com and look through the plecs there, they give sizes (though not how long before they reach that size), may take some time to go through but worth it. some of these smaller plecs can be kind of pricey, but my clowns were only $6 US a piece.............. as far as whether good algae eaters, couldn't tell you, but i've always heard that bristlenoses are great at this
