How Does An Airstone Work?

Hello, just a quick question, how does an airstone work?, does it need to be fitted to a pump, or is it simply placed at the bottom of the tank? or what? Bit of an amateur question, sorry.

You attach an airpump to it.

However, make sure your fish are adaptable to the air pup. Some fish like quiet and and an air pump is loud
Especially when you put your head in the tank ....

Yeah just like what is said above.

It does annoy me sometimes that leaflets you pick up and experts use words and talk about things you don't understand Never mind eventually you will be telling the same sort of info to other begginers and completely confusing them I am terrible for using herp related words when speaking about reptiles and the person I am giving info to gets completely lost
