how do you work out how many gallons uve got?

if my tank is:
24" as you look at it.
12" depth
12" inch high from the top of the gravel to the waterline/

What cometcattle was trying to tell you is that there's a pinned thread that has converters and calculators in it, one of which is how to calculate tank volume.

12 x 12 x 24 / 231 = 15 gallons.

Do you measure in litres? Well one gallon is around 4litres so start calcualting from there!
