I know this is going to sound ridiculous (not to mention a bit nerdy) - but do any of the rest of you watch your fish through binoculars?

I've a fish keeping friend who suggested it a year or two ago - and I've been doing it ever since (so, there's at least two of us!!).

When I'm on the opposite side of the room I can pick up the binoculars and have a close up look in any of three tanks along one wall - without moving and disturbing the fish.

If I walk over to have a closer look - all the fish stop what they're doing and come and peer at me and it takes ages for them to settle down and forget I'm there. Whereas with the binoculars I can spy on them and they don't know I'm watching. :hey:

haha good idea! whenever i walk past any of my tanks the fish swim after me wiggling madly wanting food! but sometimes i just sit in the middle of my room surrounded by all these tanks and they usually ignore me then!

xx

I agree cool idea kinda like bird watching. You get to see (spy) their semi-natural behavior from afar.

my tank is near my pc downstairs and they are use to em being about 3ft away so they ignore me but when i get close they al come swimming up 2 me and will eat out f my hand now even my clown loach come up and have a look whats going on and a nible on whatever is on offer lol

Well usually when im watching the fish i cant have anything in my hands as it usually results in myself falling asleep in front of it on the couch (damn relaxing after a stressfull day at graft).

I really cant imaging using bino's unless obvcourse you live in buckingham palace and have to view them from 100yds away lol

I just had a very scary thought "fish keepers all over the world unite and don rain macks, bino's and a notepad n pencil and head off to the local sea life centre hehe" just joking guys and each to their own :good:

jus wanted to add a few pics to this.

this is the view from my bed so i can watch all my fave fish easily.

 No, nothing like Buckingham Palace. I'm only about 10 foot away - and I can see the fish but the binoculars just give me a close up view from the computer, without moving.

And yes ok - SamUK - I can see why you wouldn't need them :D
