How Do you Sex Oscars?

I have been told that you have to take them out of the water to have a look at the differences, but I would much prefer not to do that, as they are very large oscars and I don't trust my self to hold on to them.
And I really don't want my oscars flipping around on the carpet!!!

Please and ideas??? don't hesitate to tell me
