Hello to all fish keepers...So recently my molly got pregnant and i waited for about for or five weeks then i trapped her...She still hasn't given birth...But in order for the fry to come out quickly what do I need to do?? How do I make her feel content with giving birth?? How can she become less stressed??

you trapped her way too early... this can bring on huge stress and cause them to abort , if you have a read through some of the pinned topics, you will get to know when she is ready to drop, then ( if you must) net/trap her , mollys are quite good at resisiting the urdge to eat theyre fry, so long as there is a lot of cover in the tank and mum and the othersare well fed, the rate of survival should be quite high, these fish are also prone to stress induced illness eg,whitespot etc, so id be carefull when it comes to *interferring* .. if i was you ( and i have learned from exp) i would be inclined to let her drop in her own way, time and then try to catch fry from the main tank

hope that helps, there are bound to be variations of opinion, but thats mine :), you`ll find what suits you /her

oh, and good luck with the fry :)

I have to trap her as I have angelfish, gouramis and corys in my tank...Last time when I left her she gave birth and all my other fish ate them up.

She will become more stressed by trapping her, just add more floating plants for the fry to hide in when they come along.

Can you put a pic up of her,and we will be able to help with how far along she is...

Otherwise has mentioned there are some good pinned topics regarding livebearers,or look for oldman47 he has his 'molly's progress' in his signature, which has excellent info in there. :good:

It is possible to trap a molly in a large enough trap without undue stress but it must be large enough. Most traps are designed with tiny fish like guppies in mind. Nonetheless, the net that you show your molly trapped in can be used with success if you limit the amount of time she spends there, add some small amount of cover to the net and dim the lights so that she can settle down and relax.

Hello Harlequins & Old Man47

Here's a video of her that I took yesterday... I'll upload some more today...Pls tell me when she is ready...We have a major amount of plants in our tank but only one is good for hiding in...What are some signs that she is about to give birth??

I would rather you judge her yourself. I have a link in my signature area called My Molly's Progress that tells the story for one of my female mollys from one drop to the next with lots of pictures. I make notes along the way of what I can see in each picture to try to help you judge it for yourself.
