How Do You Get Your Water Up To Temp When Changing?

I boil a kettle and top up my buckets of cold water with the boiling water. I just judge by touch.
I would use the hot tap but my hot water heater has a little rust in it so I don't want anything nasty getting into my fishies water. Once we get the tank replaced then I would just use hot water.

I do a mixture of warm and cold taps... If I will be needing to let it stand for a while I do it extra hot and wait until it's cooled down enough.

Cold water only here, in the winter when the tapwater is colder i just do smaller but more frequent water changes so that the ammount of cold water i add doesnt drop the tank temperature more than a couple of degrees. Adding hot water from the tap isnt a option for me as we have a copper hot water cylinder and i have a lot of fish that are highly sensative to copper, my conditioner neutralises the small ammount of copper found in drinking water but i really dont want to risk it with the higher concentrations found in water from a copper boiler.

garden hose straight into the tank.

although if i feel the hose temp is a litle lower I run the hose into a bucket and pump the water into the tank whilst adding buckets of hot tap water to the bucket, so it gets mixed in well.

Kettle. 1 ltr of boiling to 9 ltrs of cold in a 10 ltr bucket seems about right. And that leaves enough in the kettle to make me a cup of tea.

that's how I like to hear a water change being done, nice and relaxed  .

Haven't had to do it yet in freswahter mode but I have a 30gal container in the kitchen (near tank) which is automatically fed & topped up with RO. In here is a heater & maxijet 1200 for circulation. The water's heated so to top up when I do a change I will be adding RO right & then using the powerhead with a tube attached to pump the water to the tank. This used to happen automatically with a float switch into the sump but will be doing it manually from now on as evaporation will be low.

awesome how neat is that!! no backache for you then.

I know this seems elaborate but in the world world of marines it's normal to be honest so it's just a ntuarl overspill for me. If you want to see awesome...................
