how do u say betta?

I say bay-tuh, but I believe the generally accepted proper way is bet-uh. HTH

I say Bet-A
emphasis on the A
like the second letter of the greek alphabet

Yeah, I say it like the english translation of the greek letter (the greek would actualy be pronounced vEE-tuh). So, I say bEE-tuh. Emphasis goes on the 'ee'.

I say b-EH-ta :p (with the empansis on the "E")

ditto that. I'm sure I annoy the bejeepers out of all the bet-uh people :p But I say "Americanize it,baby" :flex:
I always think of Dennis Leary and his "croissant, croissan...cro-blahhhhh,just gimme the freakin' crescent" joke when this topic comes up..

Well I say Siamese fighter (well when I got to my LFS) when I first got a betta I called my LFS to ask if they had a betta in stock and the guy that answered the phone asked me what’s a betta I told him it’s a fish and he told me that he has no idea what I am talking, I told him its also called a Siamese fighting fish he goes ‘oh say like that then’

Since then when ever I got there and I have to ask about Bettas I say ‘Siamese fighter’

I use the term "fighters" a lot too. People who aren't into fish always look at ya like >What's a betta?, but for some reason they know a fighter :dunno:
