Hi,

I was just wondering how these fish got this pattern:

I really like them and wanted to get one with a love heart on it but wanted to know if anyone knows if they are hardy or not ?

Thanks !

They're tattooed. Personally I don't like the idea but apparently the fish isn't hurt in the process but it may weaken it.

They're tattooed !

Oh the poor fish, how could they not feel it !

I don't think I can bring myself to buying one :/

Yes. That's also why I can't buy one. I don't understand why they do it but they do. Prolly for money :( they can then sell them for more :( it's like the glo-fish. Just zebra danios with dyes injected into their eggs then suddenly they're $5 more :( poor fish

Yeah but you need to think about it... They actually are because they sell those like 3 gallon kits meant for them with the special lights made specifically for them.

Wait a second- glofih are actually tattooed fish? I thought they were carefully bred to be that way! (such a newbie question, I know :fun:

No glo-fish have dye injected in their eggs (they're actually zebra danios)
These fish are tattooed.

Glofish are not tattooed or have dye injected into the egg.

What happens is a jellyfish gene is added to their gene's (in the egg, yes)
This is then incorporated into theegg's DNA meaning that once you get viable fish you can breed them and have true glofish babies.
